Dourdan's decision to leave the show comes on the heels of Jorja Fox's much ballyhooed departure from the series late last year.

The actress told EW then that she would like to return to the series someday, though not in a full-time capacity.

Meanwhile, star Billy Petersen just re-upped his CSI deal for one more season, but for a limited amount of episodes so he can do other projects.

In 1997, Dourdan played the character Christie, the first mate, crack-shot, and second in command of the spaceship Betty, in the film Alien: Resurrection.

He also appears in the films Playing God and Thursday, and on television starred in the Dick Wolf production Swift Justice and played a recurring role on the Showtime series Soul Food until he nabbed the part of Warrick Brown on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

They still need to replace Sara ( Jorja Fox ) and while Gary Dourdan was never as important to the series as Catherine ( Marg Helgenberger ) or Grissom ( William Petersen ) his potential departure would still leave a noticeable void in the cast.  Word is  they are already looking to cast a character named Ray Santoro described as a "handsome, smart and athletic" CSI who transfers from Henderson to join the graveyard shift at the Las Vegas crime lab.

I suggest they cast a name to help fill the next casting void that will eventually come over the next year or two.

He received his first break when Debbie Allen cast him as Shaka Zulu on A Different World, based on a tape of him in an avant-garde play.

In 1996, Dourdan appeared in the Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman episode "Never On Sunday", where he played Ziggy, an assistant to Baron Sunday.

In the Season 8 finale, Dourdan's character was shot and left for dead at the episode's end.

The Season 9 premiere revealed Dourdan's character dying in the arms of his colleague and friend Gil Grissom.

He played analyst Warrick Brown, who, viewers find out, has a checkered past fraught with gambling problems.

By working in Las Vegas, the character is able to use his personal experiences from the street to help him throughout his career.

Gary Dourdan, the smoldering African-American actor who plays investigator Warrick Brown on CSI, has decided to leave the eight-year-old drama.
